In 2013, he returned to Philadelphia and the Retina Service of Wills Eye Hospital. Chiang was in private practice in the San Francisco Bay Area as a retina surgeon and recognized as a Top Doctor by Oakland Magazine. He has published over 150 papers and book chapters and is editor of ophthalmology for the Merck Manual, Retina Committee Chair for the American Academy of Ophthalmology ONE Network, Editor-in-Chief of Retina Times, an official publication of the American Society of Retina Specialists, and a member of the Editorial Board of the American Journal of Ophthalmology.
